Special Competitive Notes:
- Players may be registered for the competitive program or for the recreational program, not both.
- If a player is rostered on a competitive team, they will pay the fees that apply to their team’s soccer age group; regardless of whether they play High School soccer.
- Players that miss tryouts and/or move to Sioux Falls (or surrounding areas) and are identified during the soccer year may be allowed an individual tryout and be offered a invitation (bid), depending on the needs of the age group.
- DASC strongly encourages its players to play with their proper age group because of the recognized long-term benefits for its teams and programs, as well as its individual players. Rostering-up to an older age group will only be concidered for DASC player based upon the joint recommendations of the player's age group coach(es) and the coach(es) of the older age group, and if approved by the Director of Coaching. Even though rostering-up is strongly discouraged, rostering-up requests will be considered if there are special circumstances involving a player of particularly unique talent who requires playing up to ensure development. (See Rostering-up Policy)
Philosophy and Team Formation for U11 and U12 DASC teams
Age group philosophy places high emphasis on individual development over team development.
Participants will be selected to the age group pool. The size of the pool formed is based on the number of players that attend tryouts. There will be mostly balanced teams for training and events. Each player will have the opportunity to train at least twice per week. Each player within the pool will be trained by the coach(es) assigned to the age group and/or another qualified coch when needed.
Special Note – At the discretion of the DASC coaching staff and the Director of Coaching, during the spring and summer of the U12 year there may be a few events each year that are picked as A and B teams. There may also be some 11 v 11 game format opportunities, particularly in the spring for the U12 teams.
