Special Competitive Notes:
- Players may be registered for the competitive program or for the recreational program, not both.
- If a player is rostered on a competitive team, they will pay the fees that apply to their team’s soccer age group; regardless of whether they play High School soccer.
- Players that miss tryouts and/or move to Sioux Falls (or surrounding areas) and are identified during the soccer year may be allowed an individual tryout and be offered a invitation (bid), depending on the needs of the age group.
- DASC strongly encourages its players to play with their proper age group because of the recognized long-term benefits for its teams and programs, as well as its individual players. Rostering-up to an older age group will only be considered for DASC plyaer based upon the joint recommendations of the player's age group coach(es) and the coach(es) of the older age group, and if approved by the Director of Coaching. Even though rostering-up is strongly discouraged, rostering-up requests will be considered if there are special circumstances involving a player of particularly unique talent who requires playing up to ensure development. (See Rostering-up Policy)
Philosophy and Team Formation for U13 and U14 DASC teams
Age group philosophy starts to transition from individual to team development and getting players prepared for competitive events, including tournaments.
Ideally, participants will be organized into teams of 16 - 18 players each, based on ability (A, B and C). The number of teams formed is based on the number of players that come to tryouts. Only the top level team will compete at State Cup. All other teams will have the opportunity to participate at other events as well as the classic level state cup. Each team will have a professionally-licensed coach. Each team will train at least twice a week. There may be occasional 'age group' training sessions as well as cross training opportunities.
Special Note – All professional age group coaches will work together along with the DOC to promote players as needed.
